My goal with this painting was to take an imaginary scene and make it look as real as possible.

1. You can't see it here, but I had drawn the fairy figure in charcoal before I started painting.

2. Roll the mouse over the photo to see that the fairy figure is painted now and a little of the background. I stopped to figure out what to add to this still life that would help to balance the fairy and add interest to the work.

3. Click on the photo to see that mice struck me as just what was needed, so I roughed them in. They also help define the size of the fairy.
