| 1. This method of pastelling is for an advanced artist. The drawing is in more detail than usual. Each section is finished before the next is started. This doesn't mean that I can't go back and change something if I want to. I started on the right side of the head because this was a crucial shape. I also work on the eyes early on. If the eyes aren't right the painting can't succeed.
2. Next I completed the left side of the nose and cheek area. I use white and black charcoal pencils for the fine hairs. 3. The head is nearly done and the shape of the hair below indicated. |
